Getting into Cursed Mode on the Asylum of the Damned isn’t just a simple menu option – it’s something you’ve gotta earn. And trust me, it’s savage. We’re talking no HUD, sprinting zombies from the get-go, and enemy types that you won’t be forgetting any time soon. Before you even get a sniff of it, there’s a skill check. You and your crew have to hit Round 20 without anyone going down – no self revives, no pickup saves, nothing. A clean run or it’s over. Best move? Slow it down, lock in a safe train spot, keep talking with the squad and don’t push your luck. When you roll into Round 20, you’ll catch this creepy, distorted laugh echoing through the halls – that’s your green light to start the hunt for the unlock. First job after that laugh is to track down three Whispering Skulls. They’re sneaky. The first is shoved under a desk in the Warden’s Office. The second? Hanging high up on a light in the Cafeteria – look up and you’ll spot it. The last one’s in the Courtyard, sitting inside a busted prison transport truck. You’ve gotta melee them in the exact order: desk, light, truck. Do it right and the whole map goes pitch black for half a minute. Then comes the Crimson Hound rush – quick, aggressive, relentless. Take them down fast or they’ll overwhelm you.



When the last hound drops, you’ll see this ghostly, Mimir-looking head floating in the central chamber. That’s the Asylum’s Oracle. It’ll throw a riddle at you, and the answer’s linked to one of the elemental perk machines – like fire pointing you to PhD Flopper, or wind sending you to Stamin-Up. Head to the right machine and there’ll be a rune glowing on its side. Hit it and you’ll hear the Oracle scream; straight after, a portal will rip open in front of you. At this point, make sure the whole crew dives in – if anyone misses it, the step won’t count.



Once you’re through that portal, the match ends. You’ll get a calling card for pulling it off, but the bigger win is that back in the Zombies menu, you’ll now see a Cursed Mode toggle for Asylum of the Damned.
